Advance: diagnose and refine
Use pixel inspection, render passes, camera controls and advanced effects.
Inspect before adding effects#
Choose Studio menu → Preferences → Workspace → Usage Mode → Advance; the choice applies immediately. Start with Professional workflows, then inspect the lighting using HDR Canvas's pixel probe and the Render Passes menu.
Control the preview#
- Adjust projection and framing under Scene Settings → Camera.
- Choose a material floor or shadow-only surface under Dynamic Ground.
- Use the Materials and Material Properties panels for scene materials and Viewport and Display for background and channel settings.
- Add SSR, ambient occlusion or depth of field only when they help evaluate the scene.
- Return Render Passes to Beauty and capture a snapshot.
See camera, materials and ground and preview effects.
Understand the boundary#
Render Preview uses real-time image-based lighting. Screen-space reflections cannot see geometry outside the view or hidden behind another surface. Ambient occlusion approximates local darkening. This is not a path tracer; caustics, full global illumination and external OCIO configurations are not provided.
The performance guide explains the difference between preferred settings and the quality a device can sustain. The factory defaults reference records reset values directly from the code.
Author a local lighting graph#
Use nested Composites for local child stacks, masked HDR regions and non-destructive region crops. The local canvas and full-scene preview serve different contexts.
The Diamond material provides approximate internal refraction and dispersion for faceted stones. Its controls and limits are separate from SSR.
