Keyboard shortcuts
Keep common lighting and file actions close at hand.
Platform keys#
Use Command on macOS and Ctrl on Windows or Linux. Option on macOS corresponds to Alt. Shortcuts are suspended while you type in inputs or work in dialogs so they do not alter lights unexpectedly.

Escape and panel controls#
During a gizmo drag, Escape restores the transform from before the drag. In Orbit/Transform, Escape otherwise clears object selection. Escape in other tools returns to Orbit and cancels an in-progress panel drag. The browser's full-screen exit also uses Escape. Panel resize separators support arrow keys when focused. Tooltips name icon actions; use Tab to move through controls and Enter or Space to activate buttons.
Curve Editor has its own draft Undo and Redo. Its changes are not applied to the studio light until Done Editing.
For layer selection, macOS Control-click opens the context menu; use Command-click for individual toggles. Option/Alt is not needed. Clicking the only selected row again deselects it.
Copy, Cut, Paste and Duplicate layer shortcuts apply only while the layer context is active. Command/Ctrl+A selects the current Light Stack in lighting context, visible selectable objects in geometry context, or object layers in layer context. Delete in Object Layers removes selected layers while keeping their geometry; the current layer and locked branches remain protected. A group row supports Enter/Space to select or deselect that one group.
Context menus and material gestures#
Right-click an object, material, HDR light layer or Light Group for its contextual actions. Right-click Render Preview for selection, material assignment, view modes and reflection light picking. Elsewhere in the editor, the application menu offers Undo, Redo and Save Project. Text fields keep text selection and their Copy/Cut/Paste/Select all menu; if clipboard access is unavailable, use normal keyboard shortcuts. Browser context menus are suppressed in the editor and its detached windows. Drag material cards to objects or tree rows within one window; Escape cancels. Between separate windows, use Assign material.
Scene workflow additions#
In Geometry Tree, Ctrl/Command toggles individual objects and Shift selects a range. Right-click a row to rename it or select related objects by material or layer. Viewport Shift-click adds, Command/Ctrl-click toggles, and Option/Alt-click removes objects. Hold Shift while dragging for area selection. Choose axes and projection from their menus; L activates Light Paint. Node ports support pointer connections; Escape cancels. Drag a connected input into empty space or double-click a wire to disconnect.
In Render Preview, V/O choose Orbit and W/E/R choose the universal Transform mode. In both modes, Shift-drag selects an area; ordinary drag orbits, right-drag pans and scroll zooms. In Light Paint (L), hold Shift to paint and Alt/Option during supported scaling to preserve radiance. Transform snapping uses Alt/Option or the magnet.
