Mass Actions
Edit multiple selected lights in the contextual Light Properties panel.
Select multiple lights#
Use Ctrl-click on Windows/Linux or Command-click on macOS to add or remove individual rows. Shift-click selects a contiguous range from the last selection anchor. Add Ctrl/Command to Shift-click to add a range to the existing selection. The selection checkboxes also toggle individual layers without a modifier.
With two or more layers selected, Light Properties becomes Mass Actions for [count] Lights in the same panel. Its summary shows selected, editable and locked counts. Clicking one row returns to single-light editing; clicking the only selected row again clears selection. Clear in the stack toolbar clears the whole selection.
Adjust the selection#
| Section | Controls | Effect |
|---|---|---|
| Exposure | Step, Darker, Brighter | Relative brightness changes; preserves differences between editable lights |
| Exposure | Set exposure slider and EV field | Sets every editable selected light to the same brightness; 0 EV equals intensity 1 |
| Position | Move by, Left, Right, Up, Down | Offsets longitude or latitude by the chosen degrees |
| Visibility & protection | Show/Hide, Include/Exclude preview, Lock/Unlock | Shows the actions relevant to the current selected states |
| Isolation | Solo selected, Solo others, Clear Solo | Isolates the selection or its visible siblings without changing Enabled states |
| Linked lights | Horizontal, Vertical, Both axes, Unlink | Changes each editable selected definition's mirror type or expands linked definitions |
| Delete selected layers | Delete button at the bottom | Deletes eligible layers in one undoable operation |
Use presets or type a custom step#
The step field is a hybrid control: type a value directly, or click its arrow for presets. Exposure defaults to 0.5 EV, with 0.1, 0.25, 0.5, 1, 2, 3 and 6 EV presets. Position defaults to 5°, with 1, 5, 10, 15, 30, 45 and 90° presets. Custom exposure steps accept 0.1–6 EV; movement accepts 0.1–180°. Longitude wraps and latitude stops at the poles.
Set exposure shows Mixed values when the editable lights differ. Moving its slider or entering an EV explicitly replaces those differences with a shared brightness. Darker/Brighter retains them. These controls change individual lights, not Global Exposure. Authoring preserves brightness up to the engine's intensity limit; half-float clipping happens only when that export precision is chosen.
Smart actions and protection#
When all selected layers are locked, only Unlock is offered for protection and lighting edits are disabled. Mixed selections can offer both Lock and Unlock. Show/Hide and Include/Exclude depend on editable lights, so an action is shown only when it can change at least one layer. A uniform linked-light type is not offered again; Unlink appears only when an editable selected layer is linked.
Delete skips locked layers and Composites containing locked descendants. Its note tells you how many selected roots can be deleted. The next surviving row below the active deleted layer is selected, or the nearest row above if needed. Use Undo to restore the deletion.
Solo selected and Solo others replace isolation in the current sibling stack. Click the active isolation choice again, or use Clear Solo, to restore enabled lights. Hidden layers stay hidden. See Light Stack for scope and export behavior.
For a reusable named collection, use Light Groups. There is no separate floating Mass Actions panel and no Edit one light command.
Use Mass Actions for a Light Group#
Select one group in Light Groups to reuse these controls for its members. The heading becomes Mass Actions for [group name], and an Affected layers list and colored stack markers identify the target. Your inactive layer selection stays dimmed and receives no unrelated changes. Deleting lights dissolves affected groups with fewer than two members; existing one-member groups from older projects or membership reassignment remain compatible.
Group deletion removes the group only and keeps all its lights. Layer-selection deletion removes eligible layers. Groups spanning different sibling stacks do not offer Solo. Group branches containing both a Composite and its descendants are adjusted once through the topmost grouped layer. Direct edits also respect a locked ancestor; unlock that Composite in the stack first.
